The tale

Kael of Ashford descended into the Rippling Aqueduct. On the first floor he worked the sluice wheels and set the middle dial to the new moon, draining the water and opening a passage toward the stairs. A shoalspear wound up a heavy blow, yet Kael’s guard held and he struck into the opening, claiming first blood. On floor 2 he sprang a trap for 10 damage, then spotted two others. Two rune doors stayed shut. A sudden cave-in swept brown water down the corridor, battering him for 14 more. Against an anchorbearer he met two heavy blows, his guard holding both times; the second time he punished the opening and the elite fell. The Sluice Warden’s heavy blow landed on that same steady guard. Kael brought the warden down and claimed the String of Moon Pearls. On floor 3 he spotted three traps and passed two rune doors, finding a sodden pack and later facing a pack of brinelings. On floor 4 he took 21 damage from another trap, spotted one more, and felled an anchorbearer after punishing its heavy blow. Another rune door resisted. He solved a second altar the same way as the first, opening a shortcut. He held two heavy blows from the Undertow Captain, then slew the captain and took the Signet of the Drowned Abbot. After thirty minutes below, Kael turned back on floor 4 with 784 XP and reached level 12.
